Nestled on the top of Forest, just next to Saint-Gilles and north of Uccle, the Altitude Cent district seduces for its real estate heritage composed of beautiful Art Deco or Art Nouveau style buildings. The highest point of Brussels, this residential district of the municipality of Forest offers a masterful panoramic view of the capital.
The Altitude Cent district is located to the east of the WIELS district and near the Churchill district. Elegant avenues, characterful facades with a geometric trend typical of Art Nouveau or Art Deco style, buildings from the 30’s and sometimes from the 50’s, the Altitude Cent is distinguished by its eclectic constructions.
To discover this district, we invite you to meet us at Place de l’Altitude Cent. Since 2021, the Wednesday afternoon market is located here. In the center stands the Saint-Augustin Church, one of the most remarkable examples of Art Deco architecture in Brussels. It was completed in 1935 on plans by Léon Guiannotte and André Watteyne.
It is in the district of Altitude Cent that you will be able to find some of the most beautiful avenues of Forest: half of the long and elegant avenue Molière which is on the municipality of Forest, the avenue of the Seven prisoners, the avenue Jupiter or still the prestigious avenue Besme and Gabriel Fauré where nestle imposing villas.
Head west along Avenue Maréchal Joffre or Rue du Tournoy. You will arrive at the largest park in Forest, the Duden Park. You will find many paths to walk in a beautiful wooded environment. In the center of the park is a former castle of the Royal Donation. It houses the School of Arts-Campus Narafi and the facilities of the HELB-INRACI, the two oldest film schools in Belgium.
Further north in the park you can ride horses at the Rock Forest Stables. The northern tip of the park has been designed to enhance the panoramic view of the Lainé Square, the Forest Park and beyond to the city and the Palace of Justice.
Duden Park also contains the stadium of the same name (also known as Stade Joseph Marien), where the Royale Union Saint-Gilloise plays its championship games.
Do you like this area of Forest? It is full of luxury houses and large apartments in beautiful Art Deco or Art Nouveau style buildings. All you have to do is…
