Located between the Brussels Canal and the Grand Place, Dansaert is known for its attractive shopping offer, its cultural mix and its trendy restaurants. Lively, inspiring, well located… the Dansaert district is also known as a hot spot for Brussels fashion. The demand for real estate being strong, it is more than advised to be very reactive if you are interested in a property!
Cosmopolitan and lively, the Dansaert district is located in the center of Brussels, between the Quays and Stalingrad districts. In its extension is the Sainte-Catherine district, another lively area of the capital very popular with young professionals. This is the Brussels that seduces beyond our borders, the authentic, eclectic, lively and creative Brussels.
It’s impossible to introduce you to Dansaert without mentioning the street that bears his name! This is where you’ll find some unique, chic and trendy fashion stores.
After having a drink or a bite to eat at the Walvis café, start your visit by walking down the street from the Brussels canal towards the Bourse. Stop at the Place du Nouveau Marché aux Grains, home of MAD, the Made in Brussels fashion and design platform. Just opposite is the Q-Park Dansaert. Go around the bus station towards rue Léon Lepage. This is also where many fashion boutiques are located: Essentiel Antwerp, Hatshoe-Bxl, Vêtue, Café Costume. Continue along Rue Antoine Dansaert and shop in other boutiques such as Ba&sh, Rue Blanche, Arte Brussels Store, Maje…
Continue shopping at the vintage clothing store « Melting Pot Studio » and walk up Rue de la Vierge Noire to the corner of Rue Melsen. At the end of the street you will find the St. Catherine’s Church. If you’re lucky, you’ll be able to see a light show in the evening.
Head further north near the Sainte-Catherine metro station for a stroll through the fish market, a lively and popular place for locals. Not far from there, go for a Sunday brunch at the Velvet café, Quai au Bois Brûler.
Dansaert is a lively neighborhood with excellent public transport links. Close to the Ilot Sacré, a posh Brussels neighborhood known for the Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert, its cinemas including the Nova where you can watch an art film or the Royal Theater of Toone and its emblematic puppets, Dansaert is above all a neighborhood where multilingualism dominates. Here, French, Dutch and English can be heard on every street corner. In the evening, groups form, the atmosphere rises and the cocktail bars and other cafés fill up.
